Plumeria is a stunning flower shrouded in beauty with legendary around Hawaii and various islands. These gorgeous flowers grow on the small Plumeria alba tree native to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America ~ Frangipani oil is now cultivated in tropical areas around the world. In mythology, Plumeria is seen as a symbol of peace and tranquility. Some Indian philosophy seems this as the “Tree of Life”, and associates Plumeria flowers with death and funerals. Malaysia considers it’s fragrance reflective of the undead. These beautiful frangipani flowers have developed a tradition for use in tropical islands (Hawaii & Tahiti) for making ceremonial leis.
Our Plumeria Oil is authentic solvent-extracted Plumeria Absolute - Our Plumeria Absolute (aka Frangipani Absolute) is derived from the tropical five petaled flowers of the exotic Plumeria alba. These flowers are creamy white and spiral open to reveal a soft yellow/orange shading towards its center. The scent whispers shades of vanilla, creme with a dry undertone ~ our Sri-Lanka Plumeria Absolute extract is quite thick, some batches are waxy and semi-solid, and not much of a liquid oil solution. Frangipani Absolute seems to add beautiful notes combined with other flowers, waxes, resins & essential oils. I prefer this beautiful extract with other exotic extracts to add rich creamy dimensions in botanical perfumery. To enjoy Plumeria Oil on it's own, I will take a tiny scoop of this semi-solid extract and apply a small smudge along my wrists and neck to be fully adorned in this sweet powdery magick.
Our latest batch (2025) of Plumeria Absolute is absolutely heavenly, and is quite liquid in nature. Sourced from a lovely Thai family who has been producing botanical extracts for decades, this has a very creamy, sweet and sultry aromatic smell, and is quite attractive worn on the body or infused into your favorite homemade perfume blends!

Plumeria Absolute, also known as Frangipani Absolute, is produced from the flowers of Plumeria species, the iconic tropical flowering trees native to Central America, the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia. Plumeria is one of the most challenging botanical aromatics to produce because the flowers are extraordinarily delicate and heat-sensitive, making steam distillation impractical. The absolute is produced through solvent extraction of the fresh flowers, yielding a thick, waxy, intensely fragrant material in very small quantities relative to the amount of flower material required. This rarity and the labor-intensive harvesting of delicate tropical flowers make genuine Plumeria Absolute one of the most expensive and coveted ingredients in natural perfumery. Much of what is sold commercially as plumeria fragrance is synthetic, making true authentic Plumeria Absolute (such as EOW's) a significant find.
Plumeria Absolute has one of the most immediately transporting and beloved aromas in the natural perfumery world. It is richly floral, intensely sweet, and tropical, with a lush, almost creamy quality reminiscent of warm sunlight, ocean breezes, and the profusion of tropical flowers in their natural environment. There is a distinctive freshness beneath the sweetness, a green, slightly waxy quality from the freshly harvested petals that prevents it from becoming cloying. The aroma carries warmth, joy, and a sense of abundance and effortless beauty. Many people find it immediately evocative of Hawaii, Bali, and other tropical paradises where plumeria is used to create leis and adorn sacred spaces. On skin, it is incredibly long-lasting and becomes something uniquely beautiful through interaction with individual body chemistry. Plumeria Absolute is generally safe for topical use when diluted appropriately in a carrier oil at 1 to 3 percent concentration. As a solvent-extracted absolute, it may contain trace amounts of residual solvent, which is standard for botanical absolutes and considered negligible at normal use concentrations. Those with known sensitivities to tropical florals or floral absolutes in general should patch test before broader application. Plumeria Absolute is non-phototoxic and does not contain known allergens at concentrations that typically cause sensitization. The material is thick and semi-solid in cooler temperatures and will need gentle warming before use. Store in a cool, dark environment to preserve the integrity of its extraordinary aroma.
